Search Lehigh County Released Inmates

Lehigh County released inmates can be hard to trace once a name leaves the active jail setting. A search for Lehigh County released inmates must separate a true community exit from a transfer, parole placement, or move to another agency. Pennsylvania custody records, county release entries, court dockets, and notification tools each answer a different part of that question. The sound Lehigh County released inmate search starts with the last known facility, then matches the person and follows the custody trail until the actual release or transfer is clear.

Lehigh County Release Records Explained

A person has been released from Lehigh County Jail when that custody episode ends. The next step may be freedom in the community, but it may also be another form of custody. Bail, dismissal, time served, county parole, or sentence expiration can lead home. A state commitment can send the person to the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections. A federal case can lead to the U.S. Marshals Service or Bureau of Prisons. An immigration pickup can lead to ICE custody. A move to the Lehigh County Community Corrections Center is an intermediate placement, not final discharge.

The agency that ends the custody episode keeps the strongest proof. For Lehigh County released inmates, that is usually a Corrections commitment or release entry with an actual date, time, code, and destination. A court docket can show why release was authorized. PA SAVIN can report release or movement. Neither one alone always proves where the person went. “Discharge” usually means the legal custody or supervision term ended, while “parole” means the sentence continues in the community under rules.

Time served
A sentence satisfied by time already spent in custody.
Detainer
A notice that another authority may take or hold the person.
Parole
Conditional community release before the maximum sentence ends.
Discharge
The end of the relevant custody or supervision term.

Lehigh County Release Paths

The words on a docket or alert matter. They identify the legal event, yet the facility record proves the physical event. A new bail entry can precede release processing. A transfer closes the Lehigh County Jail stay but starts or continues custody elsewhere. Death may end a custody record, but it is not release to the community. Read the disposition and destination together.

Lehigh County Release Record Fields

A focused request should identify one booking and ask for fields that Lehigh County Corrections already maintains. The county does not publish a release-code dictionary, so no fixed code list should be assumed. Ask for the definition of an abbreviation if the produced entry does not explain it. Personal, juvenile, medical, investigative, safety-sensitive, sealed, or expunged material may be withheld or redacted under applicable law.

FieldWhat it shows
Recorded name and identifierConnects the release to the correct person and booking
Admission date and timeMarks the start of the custody episode
Docket, OTN, or charge identifierLinks custody to the court case
Actual release date and timeRecords when LCJ ended that custody episode
Release or disposition codeStates the recorded reason, if maintained and public
Destination or receiving authorityDistinguishes a community exit from transfer
Bail or sentence dataGives legal context without replacing the exit entry
Property and account entryMay document closeout on release or transfer

Underlying agency records and online visibility are different. Lehigh County publishes no official public roster or recent-release feed, so there is no supported web-retention period. Court dockets may remain after jail custody ends. PADOC’s two locators cover current prison jurisdiction or current field supervision. PA SAVIN is a status and alert service. A missing result on any one system is not a release record.

Request Lehigh County Release Records

Begin with the Lehigh County Corrections/Jail Inquiry for a current operational question. For a durable copy, use the county Right-to-Know process. The live instructions identify the Open Records Officer at the County Government Center, Department of Law, 17 South Seventh Street, Allentown, PA 18101, and list OpenRecords@lehighcounty.org. Check the live page when filing because staff and methods can change.

  1. Give the full name as booked, date of birth or inmate number if known, and a narrow admission date range.
  2. Identify the docket or OTN when available so staff can match the correct custody episode.
  3. Ask for the existing commitment and release entry, actual date and time, disposition code and definition, and destination if maintained.
  4. Request electronic copies and ask that exempt parts be redacted while the rest is produced.
  5. Keep the response and compare it with the court action and any receiving-agency record.

Pennsylvania agencies generally issue an initial response within five business days. A lawful extension may apply. The Pennsylvania Right-to-Know Law, 65 P.S. §§ 67.101–67.3104, presumes an agency record public unless law, privilege, court order, or an exemption controls. A written denial should state its basis, and appeals generally have a short deadline. Judicial records follow the court-access process rather than the county agency process.

Lehigh Release Dockets and Expungement

The Pennsylvania UJS Case Information portal can preserve bail, disposition, sentence, credit, probation, and violation entries after a jail name disappears. Search by docket, participant, OTN, police incident number, SID, and the filters available for the court. A dismissal or time-served order can explain release. A state sentence can explain why someone left LCJ yet remained confined. Court action is legal authority, not an exit clock.

The portal image below comes from the official UJS case-information source. It shows the search channel used to connect a custody event to a Lehigh criminal docket.

The docket should be placed on a timeline with the Corrections release entry because the two systems can update at different times.

Lehigh also provides a local records inquiry that states its data are current through the prior business day. That lag matters on the day of release. Sealed, expunged, and Clean Slate limited-access cases may not appear in public Case Search. Under 18 Pa.C.S. § 9122, expungement depends on the record and court process. A no-result search cannot prove there was no case, booking, or release.

After-Hours Lehigh County Bail Release

Lehigh County publishes a specific after-hours bail procedure. On weekdays from 4:30 to 5:00 p.m., Court of Common Pleas bail is handled by appointment at the Clerk after a call by 4:15 p.m. to 610-782-3730. After 5:00 p.m., on weekends, and on holidays, processing is by appointment at Lehigh County Jail at 610-782-3664. The published fee is $25 per bond in exact cash. Real-estate bail remains limited to normal Clerk business hours.

These steps document payment and court processing. They do not prove that the person walked out at the same time. Staff may still need the order, identity checks, property closeout, and a review for warrants, detainers, or another case. Ask Corrections for the actual exit entry when the time matters. If another authority received the person, describe the event as a transfer instead of community release.

Lehigh County Jail Release Scale

The 2024 Lehigh County Jail PREA audit gives current operating context, not a release count. It reports designated capacity of 1,363, an average daily population of 797 during the prior twelve months, and 15 custody units. The figures help show why daily custody changes can involve many records and processing steps.

1,363Designated capacity
797Average daily population
15Custody units

A 2016 audit reported 3,553 admissions lasting at least 72 hours, 1,941 lasting at least 30 days, and a 72-day average stay. Those are historical audit-period measures. They must not be called current annual releases. A request for a recent release window still needs exact dates and existing county fields.

Lehigh County CCC Release Status

The Lehigh County Community Corrections Center is a 400-bed local intermediate placement for selected sentenced residents. It was renovated in 2011 and offers structured community activity. Moving from LCJ to the CCC is not discharge. Leaving the building for approved activity is not proof that the sentence or placement ended.

Confirm the resident’s final CCC exit with Corrections and the sentencing docket. Then identify whether county probation or parole, state parole, or another obligation continues. The CCC audit notes public bus transportation to and from the area, but the research does not establish a discharge ride, release door, family waiting place, or routine release hour. Those details should be obtained from the facility for the individual event.

Lehigh County Release Property Deadlines

Official Lehigh County Jail inmate guidelines set a clear deadline for property left behind. A person permanently discharged from the jail has 30 days to retrieve it before disposal. Property tied to a return from the Community Corrections Center has a 10-day pickup period. The recorded recipient must follow the jail’s identification rules.

An in-custody property release requires all property to be released and calls for the inmate’s name as shown on identification, inmate number, unit or cell, and the properly named recipient. Funds or property can be returned on release or transfer. That transaction is useful logistics evidence, but it does not prove entry into the community. The destination field and receiving-agency record remain key.

Lehigh County PADOC Release Search

The PADOC locator offers two current-only modes. Inmate Locator covers people currently under DOC prison jurisdiction. Department Supervised Individual Locator covers people currently under DOC field supervision. A move from the first mode to the second can support release to community parole. It does not mean full discharge, since parole continues the sentence.

The official portal says it updates daily. It does not promise a public historical released or discharged archive, nor a field named projected release date on every profile. A person missing from both modes may be fully discharged, outside PADOC, entered under another spelling, or absent due to timing. Request the actual state release or discharge record from PADOC Central Records when the distinction matters.

The image below comes from the official Pennsylvania DOC locator and shows its inmate and supervised-individual choices.

The two modes should be searched separately because prison custody and parole supervision are different legal states.

Lehigh County Release Alerts

PA SAVIN through VINELink covers Pennsylvania county jails, state prisons, and state parole. For a person at LCJ, it may report release, escape, or movement. Search Pennsylvania by first and last name, match identifiers and facility, and preserve the event and timestamp. A missing result is inconclusive.

The official VINELink search also allows registration through Get Notified. Alerts may arrive by supported phone, text, email, or app methods. Phone registration is available at 866-972-7284, with TTY at 866-847-1298. An alert is fast evidence, but it is not a certified historical release record. Confirm whether another authority took custody.

Match the person and listed facility before treating any custody-change result as relevant to the Lehigh booking.

Lehigh County Release Timeline Checks

Lehigh has both its local records inquiry and statewide UJS docket access. The local portal states that its information is current through the end of the prior business day. UJS offers durable docket categories and identifiers. Neither system records the exact moment a jail door opens. Same-day work should reconcile the docket with PA SAVIN and the Corrections actual-release entry.

Build a timeline instead of forcing every source into one release date: court authorization, bail posting, detainer review, order receipt, property and account processing, physical exit, receiving-agency admission, supervision reporting, and later discharge. Two dates can both be correct when they describe different steps. A future-tense report or posted bond is a lead, not final custody proof.

Lehigh County ICE Release Distinction

Lehigh County has a notable ICE-detainer history. Reporting on the Galarza litigation describes a settlement after a man remained held beyond posted bail on an ICE detainer. Local reporting in June 2026 described the county rule as requiring a judge-signed warrant for continued jail detention for ICE. The history explains why bail and physical release must be checked separately, but current practice in an individual matter should be verified with the county.

An LCJ record stating “ICE pickup” means transfer. It does not mean release from ICE. The ICE Online Detainee Locator uses either a nine-digit A-number with country of birth or exact first and last name with country of birth and optional date of birth. ICE describes only a limited recent-release window, so keep the county and immigration events on separate timelines.

Lehigh County Federal Release Records

Lehigh County Jail can hold federal prisoners. Leaving LCJ in U.S. Marshals Service custody is a transfer, and a person may not yet have a BOP record. For sentenced federal custody, the BOP Inmate Locator searches by federal number or name and can show a release date and location. “RELEASED” means no longer in BOP custody, not free of all custody or supervision.

The official BOP image below shows the federal search fields and released-status context.

Use the federal docket and USMS information or records route when the person was pretrial, transported, or never assigned to BOP.

Lehigh County Prison Release Records

Older records may use “Lehigh County Prison.” The official jail history traces an 1813 lockup, the red-sandstone prison begun in 1867, a replacement shaped by litigation and a consent decree, and the present facility that opened in May 1992. The county renamed it Lehigh County Jail in 2014.

Those names describe one institutional line, not two current adult jails. Search old dockets and news under the former name, then route current requests to Lehigh County Corrections. The county, not the Sheriff, operates LCJ. That fact also explains why no “Sheriff release roster” should be invented or attached to the county jail.
